Gluten Free Crackers
Not All Gluten Free Crackers Are Made Equal
Crackers are a tasty low fat snack for most, but if you can’t have gluten in your foods then most crackers and snacks would be out. Most gluten free crackers I have tried tasted more like cardboard than crackers.
Crackers that are made with garbanzo beans or fava beans are not that tasty, and you really have to develop and acquire a taste for them. Those beans are indeed gluten free, and there are other products made from those beans that are really great tasting, gluten free crackers are not one of them.
The Best Tasting Gluten Free Crackers
The Gluten free crackers that are the best tasting by far are the ones that that are made with brown rice and finely grounded cornmeal.
They have a great flavor and combine these two grains to make some really delicious snacks. The fact that they are made with brown rice is great because you are getting the protein and fiber you need in your diet. So they taste great and they are healthy fro your too.
When you are buying Gluten Free Snacks Online
Make sure that you read the label carefully, most retailers online will have the ingredients and the Nutritional information for you to view of all the gluten free items they sell.
It is important to read labels because sometimes, manufactures will make wheat products and “gluten free” products on the same equipment, and if you are really sensitive to wheat and gluten, then this could be a problem.
Look for things like “good manufacturing practices used to separate gluten free products from other wheat products”. This means that they may manufacture wheat and gluten free products I the same factory but on separate machines. If you see something like “gluten free products manufactured in dedicated factory”. then this is the ideal! That means only gluten free products made in the factory.
I am seeing also quite a bit of people who are lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive. If you are one such person then again you want to read the label carefully, as some gluten free products also have dairy products also.
I personally am vegan and I do not do gluten/wheat products so I have to be an avid label reader.
Every day there are more and more people becoming gluten sensitive or have Celiac Disease, so manufactures are coming up with some great tasting gluten free snacks. But again it goes back to personal taste, we all have different tastes.
So keep trying different gluten free crackers until you find one you love. Remember that most gluten free snacks contains dairy and or eggs, so if you do not eat either, you need to read the packaging carefully.
